The Lord’s Supper / Breaking of Bread

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples,

and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

Matthew 26:26

What’s the purpose of the Lord’s Supper?

The service is known by different names: the Breaking of Bread, Lord’s Supper, Remembrance Meeting, or Communion. It was instituted by Jesus Christ Himself as a way for His followers to remember Him. The focus of the meeting is the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ…who He is, and what He has done through His life, death, and resurrection.

What happens during the Lord’s Supper?

There is no pre-arranged program for this service. Different men, as moved by the Holy Spirit, will lead the congregation to worship the Lord by giving out a hymn, praying, or reading a portion from the Bible that focuses our attention on Jesus Christ. Toward the end of the meeting, the bread and wine will be passed through the congregation. These symbols represent Christ’s body and blood, which He sacrificed to pay the penalty of sin.

Can I take part in the Lord’s Supper?

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, are unsure of your personal relationship with Him, or are uncertain if you should be participating in this meeting, we ask that you simply observe what happens and just pass the bread and wine when they come to you.

If you are a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are invited to take the bread and wine.

I have more questions – who can I talk to?

If you have any questions, please talk to one of the elders (Dennis Purcell, Robert Morrison, or Ryan Hagey).

We now meet on location and via video conferencing. Join us!
